Bucky is the creation of Dr. Brian Garner, PhD, a mechanical engineering professor, hobby woodworker, and passionate family man. In the Fall of 2022 Brian wanted to create a unique and memorable Christmas gift for his grandson who had just turned one year old.

Drawing from his expertise and experiences, he decided to create a simplified horse-riding simulator with classic wooden craftsmanship. He modeled the design on his computer, and optimized parameters so the movement pattern would mimic the planar components of actual horse-riding data.

He built the original Bucky in his non-air-conditioned garage. The winter of 2022 in Texas was very cold, so that was a real challenge. It took many long evenings and cold nights to complete the job, but he got it done just in time!

The very first ride on Christmas morning is a memory that Brian will cherish the rest of his life.  After all the hard work mentally and physically, the beaming smile bursting from his grandson's face made it all worth while!

Word started getting around about the special gift to Brian's grandson, and people began telling Brian how other families would also really enjoy such a fine device as Bucky. The children of families visiting the home of Brian and his wife always love to ride Bucky, even so as to beg their parents to come back over soon.

Brian began to realize that he couldn't keep this device just for his own family, but he wanted to share the fruit of his abilities and efforts to bless other families too.
